So, I took this class all of Freshman year and I got an A in it all 4 quarters and I got an A for a final grade. While in the class I got promoted to an Airman First Class. Since I am now in TN and my new HS doesnt have any JROTC program - the teachers of my old ROTC corp (A captain and MSgt) said in Junior year to email them for a reference. For College level ROTC and College just in general. I have a war history with my family. My Great x4 Grandfather being William T Sherman of the Civil War and having relatives fight in the Vietnam War, World War II, Civil War and the current War on Terror in Iraq. Did anyone take ROTC in college? If so - what was it like? Anyone in the Air Force?
ROTC is normally a 4 year program; you are not under any obligation until you are in your 3rd year and then you contract with the military; prior to contacting it's an elective. The exception would be if you are under a scholarship and I am not positive as to when you become obligated then.
ROTC is a very worthwhile program, also the best and easiest way to become an officer in the military.
Why not try it as an elective and get a feel for it?
^ Great thanks!
Also, any college in particular that has a course on miltary history? I love learning about the wars fought. IE; Civil..WWI..WWII.. on & on... But has no obligation to join the miltary?
Universities and Colleges that offer ROTC courses are many regular public and private institutions. I would look at what ever school offered the degree program you wanted and also offers ROTC for the branch of service you're interested in. There are as you probably know Air Force, Navy and Army ROTC programs.
PS: As interesting as history is a degree in it would prepare you for very little in life and even less money :-(
