Not likely -- I'm sure it will again some day when the need arises, but you will probably be too old to enlist when that day comes. Sorry. Those are the breaks.
It is interesting how things go in the military, on enlisting when my son went in there were "tiers', and the recruits were ranked according to the tiers. My son was in tier one, he also did three years of ROTC in high school. And went straight into the Army in the Fall after he graduated.
too many people have been camping out in the army and having it good thru this recession/bad economy and the government isnt having it any longer.
I'm glad you're not an Officer I serve with or I would have to square you away. Serving your country during two wars (recession or not) should never be referred to as "camping out". From the sound of your post, you're a junior officer who has a lot to learn and if you want to gain the trust and respect of your Soldiers I'd learn quick and not be running your mouth with this nonsense.

I am with you. As a retired SGM I tell you this officer does not give a good perception as such. I hope the officer does change an attitude and the demeanor reflected in the messages. Take care.
Furthermore, officers were a huge part of the problem during my service in the Corps. They'd go to the mat for the biggest turds in the platoon/company/battalion, due to the low re-enlistment rate (8% for first-termers at that time), but anyone who was productive got the shaft. Just like any government bureaucracy, which is what too much of the armed forces have turned into.
Time for a complete overhaul of the force. I'm sick of hearing about all the bureaucratic BS and the massive army of contractors required to accomplish the mission, these days.
I know what you mean. Nothing pisses you off more than when officers mark up do nothings on Pro/Con while you bust your ass just because it is easier for them to keep a total screw up around than to deal with new recruits.
this is BS. i am an army officer in afghanistan right now and i will tell you that the army is NOT accepting or granting waivers for many misdemeanors, time now; let alone felonies. as of june 2011, the army and HRC is starting a process to cut the active duty force by 49,000 personnel. that means E-4s with 6 years or more will be released. and overweight soldiers failing PT tests and not meeting tape requirements are a thing of the past. too many people have been camping out in the army and having it good thru this recession/bad economy and the government isnt having it any longer. thankfully, this doesnt pertain to officers, but for enlisted folks, enlisting is going to be much harder in the foreseable future, because the wars in iraq and afghanistan are going to come to an end NL than 2014 - by way of the afghan constitution.
You must be a newbie.
It appears you were not properly groomed by an E-9, and you seriously need it. I remember the times when a butter bar was not allowed to speak or take a crap without an E-9 giving him permission first. Math is not your forte either, is it?
Has it occurred to you that if the Army is going to eliminate 49,000 enlisted slots (after-war draw downs are nothing new), the Army is not going to need that many officers to "lead/command" those disappearing enlisted? Hello? Heck, I was Air Force enlisted and I can figure that one out.
It's too bad nobody told you that having the critical thinking skills of a gnat may hinder your career advancement.
Don't get too comfortable, buddy. Rest assured, your exit is coming too.
i am currently employed, have some college, in great shape, and have jrotc exp. i recently got in trouble for firearm possession while target shooting on my own private property. i was fully cooperative with law enforcement (which is a total mistake and is the reason i'm in so much trouble). which is landing me total of 5 felonies including a 2nd degree. (anyone want to guess what state i live in?) And i want to join but now i dont foresee that being possible. although a recruiter is currently trying to help me.
Probably, when they need people again, but right now the military is drawing down.
