If you don't want to go to war, don't join. The armed forces don't need any slackers.

Just stay home and find something else to do.

I served on continuous active duty with the U.S. Army for 22 years. I would do it all again but sorry, I would not want you leading me or following me...

You need to find somebody in each branch to talk to. Don't go by what the recruiters tell you. they'll tell you what you want to hear just to get you to sign so they can get their commision.
But I agree with some of the others. if you want a military job where you won't be deployed, you better stay home and get a job at the golden arches with Ronald.

Recruiters do not get commissions.

are you kidding me? do us a favor and DO NOT join ANY branch of our nation's military. i am 1LT serving in afghanistan right now and i will tell you this.... if you join, you ARE going to war if you join the Army or Marines. why wouldnt you want to go to war if you are joining the MILITARY!?! people like you are the reason the army is down-sizing.. too many people hiding out and dodging deployments. i lead a QRF platoon on the afghan/pakistan border and i have about 18 soldiers... if i knew one of them asked this question online, i would have them moved to the pax terminal and dismissed IMMEDIATELY. you should be ashamed to even ask this cowardly question. burger king and walmart will hire cowards. the US Army, i assure you, does NOT need you and your ilk.

More BS. Recruiters are given foreshadowed quotas as to how many recruits they need to put through basic. they are NOT given any type of commission at all. if you dont know what you are talking about, dont post in a military forum and speak on OUR behalf.

Did you mean non-combat job instead of not going to war?
