I am 27 years old. I am 5'2 234.5lbs but i am losing weight and next year when i am already slim I want to join the air force. My cousin is in the air force and he has been in it for 10 years or more and loves and lives in England.I want a new direction in life. I hate my job as a correctional officer. It seems like I am to stupid for college. I don't have alot fo experience underneath my belt. Hopefully I won't be oldest one there. I regret not joining a few ago when i took this shiiiity job.
But my main concern is i am very good in math. I love math but i do poorly in reading. What is I score low on the ASVAB will I be able to get into the AF. Also if I do get into the AF will I leave my correctional job behind.

I don't think you can enlist in the airforce past 27. You can still go in the army or navy. Your ASVAB score is very important and a poor score can result in you not being recruited. You have a tremendous amount of weight to lose to be recruitment eligible. You will have to be dedicated for the long haul. Consult with a physician. Good luck on reaching your goal. Speak w/a recruiter (like I said, you will be looking at the army or navy) and ask about ASVAB study materials.
Hey Pink, I sent you a PM but I didn't realize you were overweight. You probably will not be able to join the Air Force. By the time you lose the weight it will be too late. Since the wait for boot camp is at least 6 months, you're pushing it even now. You'll be able to do guard, reserve, or another branch. Good luck!
