So as I have mentioned in the past I am reenlisting in the Air Guard. I was doing some research on an Air Force forum and folks there were stating that you don't get BAH if you're not TDY/schooling for more than 70 days.

I've always thought you had BAH if you didnt live in the Barracks, living off base. I am asking for when I go to Tech School if I would receive BAH to cover my housing back home. Does anyone know? I tried to research the regs and couldnt find much on it as far as total amount of days in school/TDY you have to be in to rate BAH. Not sure if the Guard is any different as far as BAH goes than regular active duty and reserve folks.

Any insight would be great, thanks all!

I would think while in school and active you would get the same benefits for the most part. I have heard of people doing a BAH waiver while going to tech school and that might be what you need to apply for. I'm going into re-training and I hear about people applying for them a lot.

Thanks you two. My only concern is that my civilian pay is signifcantly more than my military pay and that BAH would help me out a lot while in Tech school.

You do get BAH while in Tech school and on deplyments... I went to a couple of schools that were less than a month for 5 and 7 level training and received BAH. Also did a month tdy and received bah for my family.

Thanks Bellhead, that's what I thought from my past experience with TDYs in the military and deployments and school, BAH is factored in.

I was on an AirForce Comm forum and they kept mentiong if school is less than 70 days or something along those lines you wont get BAH. Okay thanks everyone i think this solves the issue.
