That is what happens when you shrink the government, somebody pays. I've had good luck getting the VA to pick up most of my meds, my wife gets hers on base
I do it for the Narcotics (Tricare) b/c it's easier than trying to get the VA to do it (They tend not to like to give out the strong stuff, but I'm one of 3 long term narcotic patients my Doc has)
Now what I'm NOT looking forward to is how much my copay on my 2x weekly PT sessions have gone up!
There was a increase in Oct but I don't think it was that much. I did notice that they kicked back a couple prescriptions that they used to cover (OTC meds for my allergies). Is is possible that you picked up a 90day vs 30 supply (my Walgreens started really pushng the 90 day thing)
We were using Walgreeens who isn't going to provide service for Tricare after the new year so we switched everything to the mail service, the cost is much lower that way.
Also - is there anything that you take that is considered non-formulary? A express-script guy clued me into this - you can fill out a form of medical necssity to get it at the much lower cost ($9 vs $25). For example- my husband takes an extended release pain medication - they cover the regular version at the generic/fomrmuary rates but not the ER formula. The regular type made him way to sleepy to drive or work, but taking it at night wasn't giving him much pain relief. All he did was print out the form on the express-script link , have the dr write why he needed the er formula and fax it in. It took express-scripts a couple weeks to begin covering the ER med a the much lower cost.... Wish we had done this two years ago when he first started this pain med.

Not sure where you are going with this, but the government has increased in size by a very large margin, I don't think it has shrunk any....
The Post Office is being bled dry by the Pension requirements Congress put on it and has announced hundreds of thousands of layoffs and the closing of thousands of offices. I'm sixty miles from the VA so my drugs are delivered by mail, which will now take longer and I may have to travel farther to go pick up sensitive ones. Same with the TriCare Prescription Service Mailings. Percentages and numbers of Federal Employees mean little when you have to spend all day getting a prescription.

Same number, same type, Same place I've been getting them for years.
I always check.
