As a spouse/girlfriend of a service member you will be subjected to long days without your significant other due to deployments and school. I just reenlisted in the Air Force from the Marines and just found out my Tech school was 6 months; of course my wife isn't to happy about that but 6 months is a fraction of a 20 year career. I'm not to sure about AF deployments but 2 years ago when I was in the Marines I heard that AF deployments were between 3-6months long for junior enlisted and senior enlisted and officers could expect to be gone up to 12 months. It may have changed now (longer deployments) but i'm not to sure.
