I'm about 10 months from my ETS now and plan on going back home to Los Angeles to finish college. I was told that I will collect BAH while attending full time. Is that true ( I am not aware yet as I haven't began my ACAP process yet)? I am very interested because the cost of living in LA is quite high and having to go to school fulltime will keep me from having a full time job. Thanks
Yes, you will collect BAH while attending school full time. The BAH rate is based on the BAH for an E-5 with dependents in the zip code of the school that you will be attending. Everybody that receives the G.I. Bill living allowance is based on an E-5 with dependents. Going to school in L.A., you should make out pretty good.
A good source for the BAH rates is in the link below.

If you use the Post 9/11 GI Bill then yes. One thing to keep in mind is that they did change the law not long ago that you can't continue to collect BAH in between semesters like you could when it first came out. So you will get paid for going to school full time but the time in between semesters you won't.

Okay, that's good to know. Again, I'm sure once I begin to ACAP I'll be given the lowdown on what's most current. But I was just wondering what I was going to have to work with. Thank you for your input.

Back in "the day," when I went to college full time after active duty service, my GI Bill payments came to $199 per month. Period. That was all I got.
Wow, you did great! During "my day" I got $135 per month. Period. And had wife and child. Well, that was over 55 years ago, so ---
