The American navy stayed in the Holy Loch in Scotland for many years up until the early 1990s. they boosted the economy greatly and made up at one time a quarter of the population of Dunoon.... I visited today and took some photos.. nothing remains of the Navys time here as far as I could see.. sadly its as if they were never there... does anyone know of anyone who was stationed here .

I was on the George C. Marshall SSBN 654 from 1978 to 1983 and did five refits in Holy Lock.

Then I was stationed on the Simon Lake from 1987 to 1991 anchored in Holy Lock. I bought a house on the shore road in Sandbank, second house from the pier. Our eldest son attended public school in Sandbank.

We enjoyed living in Scotland.

We were sold an aerial photo once with a nice frame. But later our Household Goods move dunked all of our stuff in sea water, many months later when it arrived at our next duty station most of it was ruined. Thus we lost the aerial photo.
