I retired from the Air Force 10 years ago. When I left my overseas base I believe they gave me all me medical records, and my dependant husband's medical records, and even his dental records. But for some reason, I do not have any of my own dental records. My dental records had a lot of information as I had massive jaw surgery, braces, x-rays, allignment issues, and caps. This is information that would be helpful now.

I don't think it's possible that I lost them. Do you know if they are archived? I went to the archive.gov site and it appears that you can request them, but I wonder why I received all my other medical records, but not dental?

Any thoughts?

I have no idea if they get archived or not.

I left Active Duty with full Medical / Dental and Service Jacket. I did most of the photo-copying, and I was advised to give the DOD the copy, keeping the originals for my 'copy'.

I was only in 4 years, but I got my records when I left the military. Did you try calling the dental clinic on the base?

Read this whole page and see if it helps: Veterans' Medical and Health Records
The Official Military Personnel Files (OMPF), held at the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC), are administrative records containing information about the subject's military service history. Many OMPFs contain both personnel and former active duty health records, but the service branches discontinued retiring the health record portion to the NPRC in the 1990s.

When you outprocessed for your retirement did you go to the dental clinic to request a copy of your dental records? That's the only way you would have received a copy. Try contacting your last duty station that you retired out of to see if they still have a copy.

I "checked out" my medical and dental records before I retired and never returned them.
