Unless the alcohol issue was very severe, and an article 15. If he really stays clean, I would I would say yes, he could get an honorable discharge.

If he keeps his nose clean and stays out of trouble, he'll ETS with an honorable discharge.

What is interesting, is the military point of view on PTSD. Breathe a word of it, and you are treated like a mental case. Yet, your son is obviously self medicating and in need of help. And he is messing up.

1. The Korean wife will not get UI benefits. Even if she is working on base. When she leaves her separation is "a voluntary quit". Don't count on that money.
2. Your son can apply for UI benefits if he is discharged. Honorable only. Medical, depends. Dishonorable, no.
3. He blows VA benefits with a Dishonorable Dc. Only for SC injuries would he get treatment.
4. Sure...he can apply for SC for PTSD...it helps his case if he does a 90 day inpatient treatment program, and he gets 100% SC payment while doing inpatient treatment for PTSD at a VA.

I'm sorry - what do you mean by the terms "UI" and "SC?"

Sory I'm late to the party, Kathryn. Nothing I can really add to the above excellent advice. Just want to wish you and your son all the best.

My wife was able to collect UI when I was transfered. Good thing too because the place closed its doors 6 months later. I believe a service member seperaating is covered.
Likewise anything but Dishonorble should be covered by UI.
