Hi everyone,
I went to see a recruiter around six months ago and took the PiCat/ASVAB this past November and passed (70). My recruiter wouldnt stop messaging me at first, but when it got around time to take the ASVAB it seemed like he did'nt want to tell me what time to show up or what the process would be. It's like I had to keep asking him questions.

When I asked my recruiter about my physical, he said that it would have to be rescheduled because MEPS messed up my health documents and they mixed up my social security with someone else. Since then, it has been around a month and when I reach out to my recruiter, he always says that he's waiting on MEPS and that it’s on their end.

I also turned in an SF-86 form. Is this the same stuff that shows up on a security clearance? I have never been in trouble before but are they digging for more? I have moved a lot throughout my life due to being in a military family. Is this possibly holding things up? If it matters, I live in D.C. and I understand that the places here may have more traffic than somewhere else due to the types of jobs that people tend to have.
Can someone explain what's going on/what the holdup may be because I thought everything would be around a two week process, and i'm starting to get a little nervous.

I wouldn’t panic. Things sometimes happen and it usually happens at MEPS. What branch of service are you trying out for?

I had a similar experience with my recruiter, although that was 30+ years ago. It felt like I was recruiting myself!

This dude just wasn’t very responsive. I talked to numerous other airmen over my 30 year career, and nobody had an experience like mine. Most recruiters are very proactive, but I guess some aren’t. I entered MEPS through Dallas, TX.

Anyway, it definitely took me longer than 2 weeks for everything to get done. Background investigations take time, especially if there is a backlog in your area.

But definitely keep fighting to get in. Don't get discouraged. If you have to recruit yourself, so be it.

It was the best decision I ever made in my life. 24 years in uniform, 7 years as a contractor. You can have a long and amazing career if you want it bad enough.
