My grandson graduated from Parris Island yesterday and we went to Golden Corral, along with many others. As new Marines they were given a free meal.

The 2011 Vet's Day wait at the local Golden Corral was around a half-hour.

The folks working did an excellent job of herding the human herd and keeping the vittles coming.

Tables were shared and plenty of good conversing.

I wandered the facility talking with folks at different tables; brief conversations that were enjoyed by all involved.

I really enjoyed the event and it was obvious many others present enjoyed it also.

Did not go in 2012.... physical impairments prevented standing for long and taste sensation is gone but that's what happens to Disgruntled Old Coots but I appreciate the efforts of those feeding vets... there ARE many of us not well-off financially.

I love that they do this and can certainly see it for cash poor boots and vets going through a rough patch. I'm eligible but doing all right. I choose not to. I'd rather those that need it go and have a good time and not wait in such a long line. I personally believe strongly in conscription. I don't feel like I did my country a favor by enlisting or need to be constantly thanked. Don' thank me, enlist! Heck most of the time I forget to ask for the 10% off some places like Home Depot offer although I suppose if I were making a large purchase I'd remember
