Just wondering what you thought of the Yard in particular and the area in general.

My parents worked there (civilian Public Works) in the early '50's. They said that it was a great place to work, although they both transferred to the Naval Academy and worked there until their retirement.

I wasn't stationed there but, our ship was dry-docked for 3 months. It might have changed, since that was the late 70s, but as I remember, it was a fun place to be. The civilians and military got along very well. Good luck.

Thanks for the info and good luck wishes, but I'm not going to be enlisting in the Coast Guard or be working as a civilian at the Yard. I was just looking for info about a place where both of my parents had worked and liked.

Thanks again.

Was there in spring of 1982 while my ship, the USCGC Dallas WHEC 716, was being refitted. The area was nice and the people friendly. However a tour in Curtis Bay for us meant work, work, work.
