Hi so ive recently received my bachelors in construction management and have a degree in architecture, but want to gain more experience in the construction field so ive decided to join the military, at first i was leaning toward the armys construction program until i heard about the navys, now im stuck between the two. Im basically trying to figure out which i would gain the most oppourtunities for growth and experience in? what the difference between there training and military life should i decide to go active duty? any help would be greatly appreciated

Given your degrees, you may be able to become commissioned officer in the Navy SeeBees.

Really that becomes a career in itself.

You need to speak with a Navy recruiter. A word of advice though, many recruiters will jump at the chance to offer you various programs. However 99.95% of the recruiters can only sign you up for an enlisted program. With your background, you need an 'officer recruiter'.

Thank so much, i looked at your links and thats exactly the experience i was looking for, i request information from a recruiter but i just may go into a office on monday and get all my questioned answered.

I was reading the training information on the wikipedia page, is the training the same for people enrolled in reserves?
And long does it take to from an enlisted to officer if your in reserves (if thats even an option to people within the reserves)?

Probably, but it depends on the training and to a degree, the service. Depending on the field, some skills are taught at various services, ie, the majority of EOD classes are given by the Navy, etc.

My opinion, you really need to realistically focus on the Enlisted and Officer route. There are a lot of opportunities. For the Navy, look through this: Ways to Join: NavyReserve.com
