I think you're confusing obvious with arrogant. It's easy to be judgmental if you're not in his shoes and don't know all the personal circumstances--none of us do. Regardless as to why he left the service when he did, valid or not, I think we could do better for our veterans than an eight month waiting period to determine benefits.

We can. But he made other choices.

This may be a dumb question - but is the man in question an officer or enlisted?

Sounds like you're familiar with that from personal experience. I'm not going to waste time with someone who's more interested in being a jerk vs. having a conversation. Buh bye and welcome to the ignore list...

All of us on the Internet experience it every day. Only some of us understand what we are experiencing.

Those affect officers just as much.

Right but I'm saying maybe he just got to the end of his enlistment and wasn't allowed to reenlist. Versus "kicked out." It happens.

It's already happening. My son is getting out of the Army. He had a company level Article 15 back in September. His reenlistment was coming up March 1. They wouldn't sign off on it and so he's out as of April 15.

No hard feelings - he's looking forward to taking advantage of the educational benefits he's accrued, and starting a new life, but my point is that the drawdown has been common knowledge now for close to a year and it's already started affecting service members. I have three active duty kids and the two who are still active duty are very grateful that so far their jobs look secure. But even with stellar records and promotions ahead of schedule, deployments, and excellent PT scores, they are really hoping they're able to stay in and make it a career. Both of them have ten years in and ten to go.
