Are you the disabled vet? There are some programs for retraining vets... specially disabled ones, even those who don't have a current GI bill.

There may be something for a spouse of a 90% vet if the case can be made that the 90% vet can't be self supporting. Not sure which is your situation due to wording.

No my dh is the disabled vet (combat related). He has not used his GI bill, but we were told it can't be transfered because he has the GI bill prior to the post 9-11 bill. He was medically discharged before the post 9-11 gi bill. I was hoping there was something else the OP might have discovered because I'm going back to school for my masters.

ETA: We were told if he loses his job he would automaticaly get bumped to 100%, and then we would have benifits not currently avaliable.

In Virginia, if a veteran gets to 100%, there are additional benefits. I think, and please note think, that one is the children get free college. Another is reduced or waived property taxes (that may depend on the locality). I hope the situation doesn't arise. Please thank your husband for his service.

Stop right there! Has it occurred to you that veterans care for, about and are protective of one another? When someone jumps in and asks a question such as you did, many of us flash back to the all too many women, especially from other lands, who only wanted a free ride to "The Land of the Great PX!"

Get off your high horse. Our scams? I think not. With an attitude like that you don't deserve a veteran.

Approach is everything, Missy. Yours was atrocious.

"The land of the great BX" lol

That was always the running joke when I was in Korea and Japan.

Hey Vets, most of us know that the VA usually takes lots of time to respond to REAL questions and often doesn't get back to veterans as well as they should.

I think it's sad that the VA took important time away from serving a VETERAN to answer your strange and quite selfish questions.

I married a vet (4 years in the AF)...and the thought of his "bennys" never entered my mind.

That's funny! I also saw it in "New Posts" (not noticing the subforum) and thought "Is some drug addict looking for a way to get free benzedrine by marrying a veterinarian?"

Did you find a vet to date or get with yet? Or are you on the hunt for one now? Or we're the benefits not worth it to to deal with a veteran?
