I was not interested in the one CoC I been to, just standing there is rather useless to me. Luckily for the other ones, I was always on duty, training, or my day off and not required to attend and/or only selected people were invited.
I also do not like retirement ceremonies for people I do not know, or in not close association with. Reenlisting ceremonies were always (well, mostly) of a personal nature with only a few people there.
Every CoC I've went to has always been on very hot days out in the sun so I've never liked them.
To me, they're just dog and pony shows with scripted speeches that don't mean much.
Ditto. I even hate CoR (Change of Responsibility) that go for replacing the CSM or 1SG and that included mine (1SG CoR 9/11/2010).
