I was a 2 year draftee in the Navy and never had sea duty.

Duty with Navy air squadrons at Moffett Field CA and Whidby Island WA.

So instead I asked my son who retired in 2003 after 20 years in the Navy.

Best..........some of the people he met and some of the countries
Worst.........his last 2 years aboard a Frigate with a ship Captain who was " definitely mentally ill" He managed to turn the entire ship against him to nearing the point of mutiny. The captain believed in the old " kiss up and kick down" and all the sailors on his small ship were just low life stepping stones for him.

He got orders the same time my son retired. His orders were to Washington DC and my son said the captain gave a smug smile as he got awarded for screwing over all the sailors on his ship.
