He's in the Army, in GA, at Fort Benning. I've reread his letters, and the general basic first letter. It/he doesn't state the specific platoon, so I just thought maybe there's some meaning to the RN number- like the first number was the number of his platoon, and the other numbers were the number he was given in that platoon.
