My son's roster number starts with a "4", for example, "424". Does that mean he is in the 4th platoon? Just curious. Thanks!

What branch of service? location/post, training type BCT (Basic Combat Training) or AIT (Advanced Individual Training) etc, might help someone.

But why don't you ask your son.

That information may be in a letter he may have sent home...

He's in the Army, in GA, at Fort Benning. I've reread his letters, and the general basic first letter. It/he doesn't state the specific platoon, so I just thought maybe there's some meaning to the RN number- like the first number was the number of his platoon, and the other numbers were the number he was given in that platoon. I didn't know if that's how it was formulated, and was hoping someone would know...

Probably Platoon 424. My platoon number was 354.
