Beautiful country and people, I was there from 71 to 75. I also was a "Bubblehead". I plan to visit in the next few years when I retire.

USCG 1976-1996. Planned to join to avoid Vietnam ground service and narrowly missed the draft. Went to college instead for a year and then joined. Mainly toured the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, and all over the U.S. I'd love to do it again. Thanks to those before me, and since, so I didn't have to see combat. I wish nobody ever had to, then or now.

I joined the Air Force in 1975, duty assignment Dover AFB, DE. Got made an admin clerk and so got out in 1979. I tried to cross train because I wanted to stay in but they said they were short of 702's blah blah. I told them I'd reenlist anyway if they sent me overseas. They offered me Fairbanks. Hated being a 702. So got out, went in the Air Guard and did 21 there, 14 of that full-time (GS not AGR) in a different career field.

Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman here.

Enlisted in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) 1979 and left for basic in March 1980. Spent time with the Marines as an FMF Doc at Lejeune, traveled around the states from FL, to IL, to WA, to Brooklyn Shipyards, NJ, SC and NC with an overseas trip to Yokosuka Japan where I also went TAD and got my Shellback aboard the USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19).

Got out in 1995, so that was all of the 80s cold war and into Desert Shield/Storm.
