But the ones that deserve our greatest gratitude are the Mothers and the Wives. Because during the time of war and peace they sacrifice the most. GOD BLESS THEM ALL ! "I SALUTE ALL OF YOU"
SeebeeBolt, thank you for your service (as all of you who have served!). And, thank you for your comments above. Often times, we don't get very many thanks for our sacrifices. I'd do it all over again if given the chance. It was an honor to be a military wife.
I answered the poll on behalf of my dear husband. He went into the Army in 1984 and served off and on until his medical retirement in December of '07. He served as both enlisted and as a commissioned officer. He has been everywhere it seems! His last tour was in Iraq after leaving Korea. He's been to Central and S. America, Haiti, Belgium and other stateside stations. You can read about him here, as he is now dubbed "The Face Of Walter Reed" (his pic is featured on the front page along with our children):
That is a great inspiring story and thanks so much for posting this Spree. If i could ever meet her i'd give her a hug and thank her for what she does.

That had me in tears. Thanks for sharing...there's so many good folks out there and this is certainly one of them. She is inspiring.

We are still fighting for the rights of our beloved brothers and sisters who have served.
You are so very welcome TailoredMaid, and I would like to say thank you for your sacrifices and to you dear husband for his. I could only begin to imagine what my wife was feeling everytime she watched me pack my dufflebag with orders in hand. So now, I have the rest of our lives to make it all up to her. And I can't say "Thank You" enough to this little lady, God I love Her.
I grew long hair and protested against the illegal/immoral war in Viet Nam. I consider that to be honorable service to my country.
I didn't kill anyone, or glorify senseless killing by others, and I got along great with all my friends who did serve in the military. We respected each other (but I never got credit for my service).
This Thread/poll was started by Ontheroad and set to expire in July. When I became mod for History, I asked him to keep it open. This is a Thread for people who are and were in the Military. It is a place for them to have a voice for whatever they would like to discuss.
It is different than most Threads.
I would ask, please, respect this. It is not the place for politics or opinions on a specific war, unless you participated in it.
There are other Forums for that.
Thank you.

I was an Army artillery officer from 89-91 & served w/ the 101st Airborne division in ODS. My service was'nt long or distinguished, but I am proud that I did my small bit.
