We got off topic, I think. I never answered the question, does my military service influence my opinion on the current war?

No, it doesn't. Iraq may have been considered our enemy, but not a threat. A lot of people consider us an enemy and pose no threat. W & Friends' stradegy open's up justification for endless war and world conquest. If I'm not mistaken, the guys convicted for involvement with USS Cole bombing are out of prison, no? We went after the wrong bad guys.
Call me a conspiracy nut, but I just don't think it was a "mistake" for those who made the cry for war. Sure, blame bad intelligence, but a lot of people are benefiting from this war and it's not me or my family.

Thanks also to those members who are completing the poll but have not elected to speak of their experience.

Serving in the military requires different job functions, MOS #. Makes do difference if you are on the front line under fire or back in reserve bringing up supplies. When in North KOREA on the front, I had my necessary ammo and three meals a day without fail. I THANK YOU GUYS wherever you are. You NEVER FAILED ME. We all served as to where we were needed. BIG THANKS AGAIN. Steve

Can't remember who said this but it is appropriate after reading your post:

They also serve, those who sit and wait".

I served 6 years in the Air Force and think I'm a better person for it, but that was in the late '80s/early '90s. At the time, I never thought my government would start an unnecessary war. Now I think differently. I didn't support this war from day one.

Thumbs up I salute you!

To whomever it is that posted in the World War Two category, and I believe there is still just one....

I SALUTE YOU, SIR ...as yours was the last war that just about every American Citizen approved of and backed.

The war effort by civilians was incomparable...the women who went to work in the factories making ammunition and supplies...the families who took the financial and social loss without complaining...the lack of red meat, food, cars...ration stamps, etc...all spoke highly of your generation's moral fibre, family values and patriotism!
