What are the prospects for home construction jobs near Ellsworth AFB? My granddaughter is finishing up tech school, coming back home for 2 weeks, and she and her fiancé are planning to move up there after her leave is over the middle of March; they plan to be married by then--terrible idea, in my opinion, but they seem to be bound and determined to go through with this marriage. He has done home construction work since his HS graduation, mostly working with his uncle, but has no certifications in the trade (sorry, I don't know much about apprenticeships and so forth for construction work). To make things worse, his jobs have been here in the south, where one can do outside work pretty much year round and I would think it would be a different world in South Dakota. Of course, he has nothing "lined up."

In addition, what are the chances that he could be hired for a NAF job on base or even Civil Service? Any help from someone with experience and knowledge of that area would be appreciated! Thank you--

Although I do not know that particular area, but being familiar with civil service, IMO it is not easy to get in those positions, never mind without any pertinent certifications. Have him check usajobs.com for federal positions in that area so he can have an idea of what may be potentially available.

The change of weather in itself may be a big shock. Have him contact the local Labor Ready.
