Hello,
This is my first post. Looking for some feedback on my retirement check. There used to be some calculators online to figure out retirement pay. Looks like they have taken them down. I've been on DFAS website. I retired with 24 years service. I was told I have 20 yrs 8 months qualified servive, 3906 retirement points and retired as E6. According to what I figured out on DFAS website was about $1044 a month. I called DFAS and they said my paperwork was in process and could not say dollar amount at this point in time. Any feedback on my number would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mark

I retired from the Navy Reserve as a CM1 (E-6), with 20 and 6 "good time", 34 years at full retirement age. I do not remember the points, but I had a little over 6 years active duty.
My check from DFAS is a little less than $750 per month. That is the amount that shows up in the bank, after SBP, Tricare, etc. is taken out

your estimate is fairly accurate for the amount of points.

Are you still in the Navy reserve and are just trying to see how things stand? The estimate will also depend on how old you are now and how many active duty years you have had since 2008. The later will determine your age of retirement pay eligibility and the former will more than likely change if you put yourself in the retired reserve program. With that selection you are subject to recall but it also means that at the age of 60 when your pay is determined it will be determined on what an E6 gets paid at that time. It will more than likely be more.

reading the post again I see that you are in the process of getting pay. The numbers could change if you have actually 24 years. DFAS will be looking at all pay status' going back to the beginning. Having a break in service can sometimes wreck havoc with initial estimates.

Thanks for the reply, I had 10 yrs active duty time. Retired in 2004. My first check is supposed to be here end of this month. I had plenty of breaks in service! Active duty Navy, Active duty Army, Navy and Air Force reserves. Sounds like my numbers shouldn't be too far off. Thanks for the help!

you can figure it out on this link.

Benefit Calculators

You will need to get a DS Logon and you should have one. If you don't yet please do start that. It will allow you to get other retirement benefits.

Plus if you have not got this link yet you should see about getting on the newsletter. This actually will be sent you just about a year out from collecting but I think you can sign up for it prior.

Your retirement pay will last as long as you live and if you chose the annuity and your spouse survives you for their lifetime.
