I'm planning a week-long trip to Disney and a few other places. Has anyone used AFVC for a trip to Orlando? I was planning to go with Shades of Green but then I found out about AFVC. It seems to be cheaper with great resorts, at least in the Orlando area?

I also plan to use it in Galveston. Has anyone had experience using AFVC? Should I stick with Shades of Green?

I've never used either one but I'm looking forward to hear the experience others have had.

I went into the Shades of Green to get our Disney tickets. We didn't stay there but it was very nice. We had a crew of 9 so we rented a house. I did use the Hale Koa in Honolulu. Again it is very nice and the price is very good. AFVC has many resort locations. All of them are priced to allow service members and their families a reasonably priced vacation. It is especially true of young families of lower enlisted soldiers. That is partly why I have not used it much. One I had no time for vacations and two I just felt that I as a senior leader should allow those spaces to go to people who really could not afford to go anywhere else.

The Hale Koa was absolutely fabulous in how they treated me and my family. Our group consisted of me, DW, mother in law, brother in law and his wife (they flew in from Seoul South Korea).

What old soldier said. I have stayed in them when married and a family but as a single retiree they would not be my cup of tea. Lots of kids. But we're great when I had them.

Location would make all the difference though. Once you got out of the mayhem of shades of green then you could get into the mayhem of Disney.

I am not a resort type person so truth in lending...
