AFI 36-3205 governs the Palace Chase Program. Have you read it?

I understand what "Palace Chase" is very well after reading these links, maybe I am being dense, I just can't figure out why they call it "Palace Chase".

Well, (for example) at least according to Wikipedia, no one knows where the old "Hound Dog" missile got it's name from either, so apparently the AF has some interesting terminology of unknown origin.

I didn't know it either. I just googled it up. I was assuming it was something they said in the movie Three Kings. I don't know. I never watched the movie.

Maybe it's a counterintelligence measure. Give the process for leaving active duty and going to the Guard early a confusing name, so that potential and actual adversaries have a hard time figuring it out?

Maybe it was really good at "sniffing" out its target.
