No lie there. Those guys have a reputation of absolute ruthlessness. Yeah I would not have a problem have a Sikh fighting at my side.

The Navy...was it E6 and above? allowed beards when I first enlisted. Of course facial hair was never a problem for me and I believe it was limited to the male squids but I was a jarhead anyway. I worked with a Gunny who, at one time, kept long hair and wore a regulation haircut wig. That was before urinalysis, too.

I never saw anything like that in the Marine Corps. Thankfully.
A few Sikhs in the Air Force at that time as well.

The Army had experimented with a few Sikhs (bearded and turbaned) about six or eight years ago, but I'd heard they'd since released all of them from service.

Sikhs are good fighters, though. If they're going to permit "Norse worshipers" to have beards, bring the Sikhs back.

I would imagine that they would use the same beard regulations that the US Navy had during most of my career. ie, no individual hair longer than 3/4 inch, and the mass of hair must lay within 1/2 inch from the skin.

I wore a full beard during most of my Active Duty career.

Actually, in the Army, Sikhs now have permanent exemptions for wearing beards and turbans.
