I just want to say thank you for your service. I know you all probably hear this alot and Im not sure if it ever gets cliche or not, but I wanted to express that to those here on CD.

I never did serve, but now in my 40s I wish I had chosen this path. I have a good friend Ive known since middle school just retire out of the Army after 20 yrs. He went in as an officer and eventually became a Ranger.

We met up this past weekend to catch up and after hearing some of his stories, it really made me respect those that serve (or have served) that much more.

Thank you for acknowledging those who served. I was drafted in May 1968... I was not happy at that time.

That short obligation stretched out to a 22+ year career. I had good times and bad times. I learned a lot.

I still have some friends, we keep in touch with many on Facebook...

Some who I have served with had died while on duty and now old age is creeping up on others.

I would do it again, with some slight changes. I have no major regrets. I have a lot of good memories.

Four years during the Vietnam War mostly in SE Asia. Marine Embassy Guard Battalion Company C. Four or five guys per duty station with the exception of Saigon. Our company commander was in Manila and we saw him a couple of times a year on inspections. Best time of my life in many ways. Got married overseas. Free college education on GI bill. Semper Fi.
