To retain experienced Airmen and assist with end-strength growth, the Air Force is revising the High Year of Tenure (HYT) for Senior Airman through Technical Sergeant. Airmen with a HYT of 1 February 2019 and later will have their HYT adjusted as follows:
SrA - from 8 to 10 years of Total Active Federal Military Service (TAFMS)
Sgt - from 15 to 20 years of TAFMS
TSgt - from 20 to 22 years of TAFMS
Interesting changes the Air Force continues to make. This will be sure to keep a solid number of E5s in service for 20.
I could not imagine being an E5 for that long, and retiring as one.
By the way, no offense to those that have, I do not think less about anyone in such a situation of anything, and know there are a lot of factors in this advancement stuff.

I thought the rank of SGT (E-4) was done away with.
Notwithstanding, back when I served (late 70's-early 80's), it was common to see a SSG (E-5) retiring at the 20 year mark.

I'm guessing that should have read SSGt, not Sgt. SrA is an E-4. SSgt is E-5 and TSgt is E-6.
