Who was the Military officier and what was his rank,....who was always walking immeadiately on the left side of Geo W Bush, and was always about a half step behind him?
He appeared to be approx 50/55 yr old.

I will take a guess... It appears to be Army Major General Michael L. Howard, Commanding General, Joint Task Force-National Capital Region, Washington, D.C. Appears to be the escort for next of kin.

part of the responsibilities of the commander national capitol region. always regarded as maybe the best when selected for the position.

wouldn't be surprised if had to meet the Old Guard physical standards given the ceremonial aspect to the role. just a guess.
