I got permanently dq’d From the army due to my juvenile record. When I was 14 They searched the school campus and I had a bag of weed on me. I was really stupid back then and didn’t know what I wanted for my future. By the way, I am still not an adult. I’m 17. I went to meps and got a 43 on the Asian and they fingerprinted me and the recruiter said I was disqualified from the fingerprints. I’m wondering if I can try again when I turn 18 for whatever reason and in another branch like the navy or something? Thanks for all advice in advance..
@john My attorney at the juvenile court said it will automatically expunge and seal when I turn 18 but from my research in the eyes of the military and government it doesn’t make a difference so I don’t know.
@old yeah I know, on average the army is the most lenient with most openings, but I don’t know why they didn’t grant me a moral waiver, I thought that was what they were gonna do. I even told the recruiter that they fingerprinted me when I enter the juvenile detention facility and she just nodded her head in understandment..
A long time ago a juvenile record was a badge of honor and an asset when trying to join the army or Marine Corps. But those days are gone. If you can't get into the army you're pretty much out of luck. No one else is going to take you, except...the French Foreign Legion. Brush up of your French first.

You were not disqualified because of the fingerprints/juvenile record. You were disqualified for lying and failing to disclose it.
At some point, you would have been asked by multiple people, and multiple forms, if you had ever received tickets or been arrested. You must have chosen not to tell them, and they found the record when they finger printed you.
A possession of marijuana waiver is EASY to get, when you're upfront, honest, and don't falsely answer questions on official forms.
Talk to another branch, but this time be honest. You can get into any branch with a possession of marijuana charge, IF the recruiter wants to do the waiver.

Oh, now that I'm reading this further, maybe your recruiter failed you. You tried to tell her and she made it seem like it wasn't a big deal?
Was the criminal charge on your SF86 (also known as clearance, casefile, application?)? Did you tell the doctor at MEPS about it when you were asked? Just wondering why they're being so harsh about the waiver.
It could also be your ASVAB score is pretty low. I've been an Air Force recruiter for 10 years. We really only like to do waivers on people with over a 50, but I've seen plenty approved for possession of marijuana and for people with under a 50. Talk with the other branches. Good luck.
