South Korea is pretty amazing with the progress they have made since 1954.
I was there in 1957-58 and it was still pretty well torn up.

The South Korean people and Govt remember and appreciate the service of those who helped keep them free from Communism.

The South Korean Govt. would fly a Korean conflict veteran to South Korea for free to show how the country had progressed.
A college near where I used to live had a big memorial from the S. Korean Govt. thanking Americans for the sacrifice. I participated in a memorial day parade, at the end of which, the Ambassador from South Korea gave a moving speech thanking American veterans.
