I want to see a recruit tell their drill instructor that they can't stand fire watch because the AMA said it was bad. Good luck with that.

A lot of E7s, E8s and E9s [through-out the Navy] will get TDY orders to travel to whatever Navy base so they can participate in the initiation of the new chief selectees.
This process for "the season" has been drastically altered, and really isn't hazing, anymore, as the old school Chiefs will be glad to tell you, loud and proud, as they slurp really burnt coffee and grouse about the "new Navy" and "back in my day." There actually are a few old timers here and there that will tell you that the more blatant hazing practices that used to be part of Chief's initiation were, in truth, valueless nonsense...but most will toe the party line that they believe it's important to the process, in my experience.

The season is also a heck of a lot longer than a couple of weeks, as well, under the newer guidance. The term "initiation" was actually "banned" for more than a dozen years, because of the hazing connotations, and there was an effort to reframe initiation/induction as more of a "training," but the term "initiation" got officially resurrected a couple of years ago by the then-MCPON, mainly because everybody was still using it, anyway.
