Two Veterans Groups, Left and Right, Join Forces Against the Forever Wars
Will Fischer, then the Director of government relations for VoteVets, the liberal political action committee, was tapped to face off with Dan Caldwell, the Executive Director of the conservative Concerned Veterans for America. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/16/u...s-america.html
I was in lovely Mosul, Iraq in 2004-5, where my battalion lost 7 KIA for who knows what reason. Was really inspiring ten years later to see the city fall to ISIS. The Taliban has now turned a relatively quiet province I was in in Afghanistan in 2011 into a support base. Makes you wonder why we are wasting lives and money almost 20 years after the wars began.
I am to that point too. time for the other elements of National Security to step up and do whatever they can in our National Interest: Diplomatic, Economic, Intelligence, Technology. Add Space I guess as a National Security Element.
I think we are all tired of these "forever" wars. This isn't anything new. the problem is, what do we do and where do we belong and not belong for our own protection. No one seems to have an answer.
I've read in a Smithsonian Magazine I get about the years America has been in wars and conflicts.
It's a shame to say that there's less than 20 years TOTAL that America was at peace.
Would love to add more years of peacetime.
How about sending all these politicians and their families to foreign soils and fight their own wars.
