Heaven forbid someone see that new female recruit with the big hands has an Outie when they have been representing as an Innie, it would mean counseling for everyone involved. Please Lord, don't let the Leftists who have ruined the college campuses do the same to our military.
Too late. It's already happened.

That doesn't sound that difficult. I would have easily passed in my 20's and even now at 42 I think I could make a good showing, but I am in shape.

Time to get real: Every infantry CO would love to have a unit standard requiring 6' 4" linebacker types with perfect eyesight who can also run marathons, bench-press their own weights and have 120+ IQs. It's just that once you filter everybody else out of the recruitment pool, you'd end up with about 8 soldiers to a company.

So you work with what you've got. And let's face it, it's comparatively easy to take healthy young people and train them to walk far, carry heavy and run fast.

What is hard to instill the values you need from soldiers. There are those who'll break under pressure, there are those who'll follow the first to break, there are those who hold fast when led well, those who don't need leading, even those who can actually lead. Would be easy if the physically strong were the mentally strong, but we're not so lucky.

Audie Murphy was 5' 5" and first refused for being underweight. There are a lot of Nazis who would have preferred a stricter enforcement of physical standards if it had kept him stateside.

Boy you nail some good points. Not only Audie Murphy, but most WWII pilots were 19-21 or so when they finished flight school. No college, no this no that, just vision test and flying ability. Ted Williams, anyone?

The ever-more-bureaucratification of everything in our society increases complexity without necessarily improving outcomes. It DOES supply jobs for paper-pushing drones, at taxpayer expense.

But the complexity of this test is a nightmare. I was a Master Fitness Trainer and administered the PT Test semi-annually to reservists. A large majority did what they had to do to pass. Most people are NOT into fitness the way some of us were and are.

The APFT was already a time-eater. For a reserve unit with 16 hours a month, this new test is a mess and it is a logistic, time-eating nightmare. I can see injuries spiraling and people trying to dodge it, so they can take it some time during the week when a buddy can give them a pencil-push PASS on it.

I initiated videotaping the tests because when a question arose, there was the evidence. People cheat, and one guy tried to fail someone when his pushups were clearly to spec.

Good luck with this. Better would be use the successful completion of this as an incentive.

Ground soldiers today carry much more equipment today than in the past. Probably the reason for the new test.
But I doubt if they kick anyone out who struggles or can't make the grade as they need behind the scenes personnel that would never have the need for such endurance or equipment.

My feat at this age:

Step one: Lift a tea bag out of a cup. ( mission complete)
Step 2: Toss a horse pill down your throat and don't choke ( Mission complete)
Step 3: Go on a reconnaissance mission to figure out where ya last placed your glasses ( Ohh some times this does take half a day! Cuz I need my glasses to see where I'm looking!!! What a quandry!)
Step 4: Stand Completely still when in a line to use the bathroom. Boy does that take discipline! ( mission complete)
Step 5: Withstand 5 Hot flashes without saying--Is it hot in here or is it just me?

Now to find a military group willing to accept me based on those rigorous skills!!
