This is about police not soldiers.

I watch too many police programs and this TV series called Body Cam. Today I watched videos where the police are in pursuit. The suspect is armed and driving a stolen vehicle wildly on a high speed chase. The officers cannot get close enough to clip the car or fire at the suspect without them being shot at close range with an AK-47.

Surely police cars could be fitted with twin missile launchers or automatic weapons, locating them under the hood. To use them, the weapons will elevate above the hood. Cops can still keep up with the runner , shoot tires, puncture the gas tank or use deadly force without having to stop and get out of their cars to shoot.

Pros and cons?
Yeah, sounds ike a great idea.

Not a problem. Kids are short. The tracers should just pass harmlessly over their heads. At least until high school.

I am in the camp that cops should have flame throwers. Yes, you have to get a lot closer, but the perps car would look pretty cool going down the road roaring fire and belching clouds of smoke.

Are you not entertained?

And isn't that REALLY the purpose behind the criminal justice system anyway? Maximal entertainment value.

Like court. Why have a jury? Why not just have the perp and the DA fight it out to the death gladiator style in the arena. If the perp kills the DA, he is off scott free. If the DA kills the perp, problem solved. Sell tickets. Make popcorn. Pay TV. I am pretty sure it would be the #1 show in Japan before long.

Like the Schwarzenegger Movie "Running Man" except just rename the TV game show to "Driving Man".

On a side note, the "dystopian America" in that movie was set in the year 2019.

Since most police vehicles today are SUVs then how about a roof mounted 50 cal gun with armor piercing rounds and a computer controlled turret? The roof would open up and the gun would rise up like those MASK cartoon toys. Or it could launch a road computer guided torpedo that would detonate when it reached the fleeing vehicle’s engine. Or the police vehicle could launch a drone armed with a rocket to fire straight down into the fleeing vehicle’s engine. That might not be environmentally friendly. Perhaps the drone could spray a paint on the fleeing vehicle’s windshield blinding the driver? No, that too might not be environmentally friendly. What if the drone had a canister of mace/pepper spray it could fire into the passenger compartment? What if the rear of the police vehicle had an officer with a 50 cal gun mount like a tail gunner? What if they could fire a tracking device to attach to the vehicle? What if police officers went to Hollywood movie training to learn how to shoot out tires on a fleeing vehicle while operating a chase vehicle and not hit any other vehicles or bystanders.

(Lol)

Perhaps police should address the reason why such powerful firearms are so accessible in their areas first?

This is similar to the drug problem (especially bad in my city, where dirty needles are found in neighborhood parks frequently...local police make a big deal about it when it happens, but they never seem to answer WHY these dangerous drugs are so accessible to begin with? Its the same thing with high powered firearms that criminals can easily obtain.
