Best - Sanford FL NAS in a recon attack air squadron. Aboard the CVA-62 USS Independence. Air station, Squadron and ship decommissioned.
Worst - Spent 1 year of my life in Iceland.

Gaeta, Italy; Rhodes, Greece; Varna, Bulgaria; Barcelona, Spain; and Malta. Places I didn't like were Islamic countries and France. For the record, I'm Cajun and I went there with an open attitude towards going home to the land of my ancestors. I left there vowing never to return. My dad, who speaks fluid French, had the same experience while working there for his company.

Well, a lot of good places there..I was hoping someone else might mention Oz, as we've always enjoyed visits from you guys and gals when you've come to Sydney ..there's a bunch of you here now in fact, the USS Halsey, and USS Peleliu. It's always good for us when you're here, livens up the place a bit!

The prettiest place I ever served was near the Hon Roi Island group off the west coast of Vietnam. Absolute tropical paradise.

I served in Okinawa but was able to make a trip to mainland Japan and found that the mountains reminded me alot of home in Upstate NY and made it really nice for me. Other than that the highlands of Scotland were almost as awesome even though I looked in Loch Ness for 2 days and did not see the monster.

Ecuador. Spent four months there, on the coast in the small coastal city of Manta. We lived in a four star hotel on the beach, you could get a swordfish steak with fries and a beer for $3.00. About 20 minutes to the south was a semi-secluded beach with a small straw hut cabana that served hot meals. We'd bring a cooler full of beers and some music and just chill out on the beach into the night. Clear star filled skies, waves crashing on the shore, mild summer breeze, beautiful chicas everywhere. Paradise. The back roads away from Manta always had some fruit vendors on the side of the road selling freshly picked mangoes and other fruits for cheap. I was never so relaxed in all my life. The people down there was amazing too, very friendly and though many of them live in poverty, they still managed not to be bitter. They knew how to enjoy life and appreciate the non-material things in life.

Rota Spain, because the food was great and the beaches are topless.
