Fort Knox Kentucky, Sept. 1966. I remember taking a train with a bunch of recruits from Detroit to Louisville, then busing us to Fort Knox. It took me only 1 hour after arrival before I had to to drop down and do 20.

Navy bootcamp July-September 1984, Orlando FL, when it was still a co-ed base. Made for fun time off, and hungry girls missing their boyfriend. I do not miss the weather, though.

USN Great Lakes Torture Center December 1963 (yeah - that long ago). I learned that a P coat is useless in a -20 deg wind and that tear gas settles so standing on tip toe misses most of it. I also learned to asy, "yes, sir!" I don't do that anymore unless they are paying me.

Eventually, I wound up in the Riverine forces in 'Nam in '66 but that is another story.

My father went during the same time frame. He ended up on the USS CHarles H. Roan DD 853.

As the only girl in my family to join the military, I went into USAF, Lackland AFB, May 18, 2000 - June 30, 2000. Tech school, Gulfport, MS.
