Looks like I'm the youngest one here...
Navy RTC Great lakes, 2006. 26JUL-22Sep. I deliberatly picked summer because I was trying to avoid the winter. I succeeded, although I'm not sure if what I got instead was much better. Along the way, I learned that only in the military you wear long sleeves and dark colored pants in 90 degree heat with unbearable humidity.

RTC Great Lakes in the dead of Winter (Dec 1989-Jan 1990). Every time it warmed up...it snowed! What a god awful place~

Default U.S. Navy

Did boot camp in U.S. Navy in 9/96-12/96. Our RDC had us hating each other by the time we left so many may not want to reconnect.

I think this is one critical reason why so many people learned to hate the Navy fast. Great Lakes IL was a horrible place. Cold, gray overcast sky, bitter cold. If the boot camp was set in San Diego, they'd probably have much more enthusiastic new recruits. I've never been to Corpus Cristi, or Pensacola, but these might better locales also.
