I went to Navy Boot Camp in Orlando FL, Aug - Oct 78. They use to tell us that off duty police hung out in the orange groves outside the base to catch those trying to escape....
Company 256 and I can still remember sweating off body parts marching on the grinder.

The USAF's basic training is in San Antonio, TX. A GREAT place in the Spring, Fall and even most of Winter. But DAMN hot in the Summer. Glad I went thru in January.
