No, I didn't need to do that, but going from Army to Navy, they sent me to Orlando where I pretty much worked with the company commander. We were the same rank and IMO was like a turnover of training more less.

Just thought I would pass this on, it's an article about a processing station of new recruits in Dallas:

The time I signed the enlistment papers to the time I left for boot camp was about 5 days. However, I'd first contacted them in January of that year, met with them a few times to arrange things (taking the ASVAB and the physical). Everything was all set to go...unofficially. Because I hadn't picked my rate yet. I couldn't do that until my a-hole father (now known as the a-hole I used to know) wouldn't sign the paper, and refused to cooperate. So I had to wait until I was 18. In the meantime, my recruiters contacted me every two weeks or so to see if I was still interested. Day after my birthday, I signed the papers. Next day, I was at the MEPS picking the day I wanted to leave, and my rate. Five days later, I was off to Boot camp. My recruiters thought I was nuts to leave that soon...

Back in 1972, it was 17 days from recruiter to active duty.

My daughter wants to enlist in the air force - she's been talking about it for over a year.

From the moment she meets the recruiter....how long until she goes to basic training?

There is no clear answer to that question, but recruiter can narrow that down better.
Good luck to you daughter!

Our son has talked with the recruiter and taken his ASVAB. Tomorrow he goes in to discuss his paperwork and on 11/3 is sworn in. He was a little bummed about having to wait 4 to 6 months.
We thank you everyone for your service and your posts. They have been a big help!!!
