Yesterday I sent my Coastie an e-mail, one of several this week. This morning I recieved a delivery status delay notification from the USCG. I have never had this happen before. Am I correct in assuming that because his cutter is doing search and rescue in the Bering Sea that he may just be out of range right now? I now the weather there is pretty bad right now and maybe that is part of the reason for the delay. The most sensitive thing in the e-mail was how soon I needed to get his Christmas presents mailed.
MI Coastie Mom, I'd try resending it. We've had "glitches" like that, to both military & civilian friends. I doubt the cutter's location has anything to do with email delivery (from my limited knowledge...). If you don't get a quick reply, any post office or the USPS website will be able to tell you about mail deadlines for APO/FPO locations.
Here is what I saw posted just earlier today on another board

The deadline for Parcel Post is Nov. 13 but priority mail is Dec. 4.
The flat rate boxes are considered priority. My best peice of advice is to make sure you make a list of everything that is in it and pay for the insurance.
