Why Doesn't the President ever use Coast Guard One?
This question intrigues me, Why Doesn't the President of the USA ever use Coast Guard One?
Obviously the pres. uses Air Force One alot, but also Marine One, Army One and Navy One have all been used. Seems like the one branch left out is the coast guard. Shouldn't Bush have used this say durring his trips to see IKE and KATRINA considering the USCG handels most of that effort?

The Coast Guard did 22,000 rescues during Katrina, despite the fact that many of their stations along the affected area were destroyed or otherwise impacted. That is more rescues than all other agencies combined. I suspect they were so busy they didn't have a pot for the President to pee in, much less a spare helicopter to haul him around in.
I haven't seen any figures yet for Ike, but my guess would be they were too busy saving lives to be tour guides. There has not been a Coast Guard One flight since 2007.

Coast Guard One is the air traffic control callsign of any United States Coast Guard aircraft carrying the President of the United States. As of 2007, there has never been a Coast Guard One flight.

Probably because the Coast Guard does not have any assets outfitted with the required communications and other gear. The President doesn't fly on just any standard aircraft.

Funny thing is the Coast Guard has some pretty complex aviation equipment, I saw a Youtube of the pres landing at a USCG base in texas to tour the damage of Ike. He landed in Air Force One, and despite the fact there were multiple Coast Guard Copters, and they no more about the hurricane then any other military branch guess what bush flew around in. MARINE ONE!! Ironic right.

Sunrico and JerichoHW have it right. ANY aircraft carrying the President is "_____ (insert branch of service) One". And the President flies with various equipment that cannot be transferred easily to just any aircraft, so the specially-outfitted USAF and Marine dedicated aircraft are almost always used. According to one of my coworkers, a retired USCG NCO, the Coast Guard doesn't have an aircraft specifically dedicated to the president. However, the USCG does have a very nicely-appointed aircraft for the Commandant. (I'm ashamed to admit I've forgotten what type it is )
