Stationed at Wildchicken the mid-80's. Drank a lot of beer at the Monastery and a the Green Goose. Seems to me is was cloudy up there most of the year. Partied with guys from the 54th Eng Bn a lot.

Yes I was in Wildflecken 83-85. It was the best time of my life. I was in a bike club call WILD TAURUS! Do you remember them. I really miss that time of my life!

My father was an MP @ Wildflecken.
I remember we left not too long after they opened the Burger King!

No, don' remember any bike clubs. The Burger King got old really fast. Everybody really missed the old cafateria that the BK replaced.

I saw this thread and needed a Jacket immediately. It contends with Hohensfeld as one the coldest places I had ever been. I was assigned to CSC 6/502nd Infantry Regt(LT) Snipers, Berlin Brigade, 1988-1992, and that place was our home away from home. Rain,Snow, And mud. I did enjoy whatever breaks we had to go to BK or the Gym. There were nice Facilities and The monastary had a good reputation. Seemed like a nice place to be assigned to if you were married or had children but perhaps I was spoiled because I was From Berlin. All in all I would like to visit it again sometime, it did have a charm all of its own. The only thing that bothered me was without fail as soon as my unit would arrive the clouds and weather would roll in like clockwork even on the most beautiful of days. The running joke was that the battalion ordered the weather for training which was usually a day before Thanksgiving or some other awful winter month.
