Hello all!
We will be traveling (driving) through VA up through PA and really don't have much money to spend at all as my S.O is waiting for the next 1st of the month and I'm out of a job. We would like to possibly make a pit stop in Maryland for a night or two, then spend the rest of the time in PA where he will be attending a couple military schools (FTIG and some other school). I asked him to find out if there were any free/cheap/affordable lodging options on base that we could use, but I don't think he has found very much of anything. He said one place told him that they would need to see his orders, but since we will be traveling on the dates that lead up just before his orders take place, he's not sure if that will be a helpful option. Help? Suggestions please??

I guess my question is are you actually PCSing? If so you should have no trouble getting lodging at a military installation. If not, then you may not be able to get in to billeting as it is the beginning of the moving season. If you are going up 95N, try Ft. Lee in Virginia; it is just south of Richmond. A little further north on 95 will be Quantico MCB in Stafford County (north of Fredericksburg).

With the way you're asking it appears you're not PCSing, therefore lodging will not be "free". www.Kayak.com search all the travel sites. www.Hotwire.com will usually be your best deal, but you only get to select the basic area. If you choose a low star rating, you could be a rough area, generally speaking if you choose a 3 star rating or higher, you'd be in a safe area.
