A color guard made up of local veterans stands during a ceremony at the Bois de Limors, Varenguebec, France, June
7, 2014, honoring the 22 paratroopers and aircrew of a C-47 aircraft shot down by German anti-aircraft guns June 6,
1944. The event was one of several commemorations of the 70th anniversary of D-Day operations conducted by Allied

Students from Quantico's Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy (SNCOA) conducted a 7-mile Director's Run

COIGNY, France -- Eric Sissons, Royal Air Force World War II veteran, tells his story to Brig. Gen. Patrick X. Mordente,
86th Airlift Wing commander, during a ceremony at the Franquetot's castle here, June 7, 2014. Sissons landed on
Omaha Beach on D-Day where nearly half of his unit was instantly killed. The ceremony was held to dedicate a plaque
to memorialize pilots of the 358th Fighter Group who helped liberate France during World War II. The event was one of
