The Leatherneck Pipes & Drums were formed in 1991; the inspiration of two former Marines; Doug Mallon and Ted Grundmann. An
original group of seven pipers and three drummers represented Marine Veterans from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Today, as many as thirty members may perform in concert or on parade; thrilling audiences young and old with a unique brand of
military music and pageantry. The Leatherneck Pipes & Drums is dedicated to preserve and promulgate the proud history and
traditions of the United States Marine Corps through their musical presentations. The band is augmented by a historic military Color

Guard, and represents more than 330 years of service to Country and Corps. The Leathernecks wear the dress blue uniform and
kilt similar to that of the United States Marines, in tribute to our nation's premier fighting force. Each bagpipe cover shows the
distinctive "Shamrock" patch issued in 1942 to US Marines stationed in Northern Ireland, wartime home of the original Marine Corps
bagpipe band. The insignia as displayed, is in tribute to our forebears whose name we proudly carry.

The band has performed before Presidents and Prime Ministers; on land and at sea; in hundreds of parades, concerts and
ceremonies during the past eleven years. The Leatherneck Pipes & Drums have appeared on national and international television in
addition to performing before military and civilian audiences from coast to coast.

In 1922 Apache scouts were moved to Fort Huachuca, Arizona which would become their permanent home until the remaining few
retired. At Huachuca they patrolled the boundaries of the military reservation and took part in ceremonial functions, stirring
memories of a proud past. All are part of the 25th Infantry, and lived with their families in a row of adobe houses they built for
themselves at Fort Huachuca. Apache Scout Kessay mounted on the parade field, in the early 1940s. The Detachment of Apache
Indian Scouts at Fort Huachuca, Arizona was finally disbanded as a U.S. Army unit in 1943, although its last three sergeants, Joe

Vivian Cadman Eddy shows the Congressional Gold Medal she received for flying for the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP)
during World War II after a ceremony at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C., March 10th, 2010. During her service, Eddy
delivered nine P-51 aircraft from California to New Jersey. All 1,102 women who served as civilian pilots under the direction of U.S.

I will as I do all vets . Last one was a Korean War vet at a grocery . He acted surprised . he had on his cap stating he was a vet of this war . I always thank them . I may not agree with the leaders but these men are great . Hindsight is always 20-20 with war .
