Yes

"beautiful girl"

You are thinking of 'fica' rather than 'figa'.

In either case, not really used in polite society, but not horribly bad either.

Like calling men 'bella' it is calling the guy a girl, though it is commonly done and accepted. It just sounds weird to us as we learn Italian.

I had a buddy in the Kentucky Air Guard who was over in Naples for a bit. He said they put you up in a hotel with per diem, no housing over there.

What is your interest in the housing area on a U.S. military base?

If you email me privately when you get there, I can copy some pages of the book: Bed and Blessings, and send them to you.
Don't miss Florence!
Yes, living on-base in Italy is safer.

Victor, I live in Germany, but travel in Italy.
Sorry I can't help you but I'm sure someone on here can.
Do you have the option of DoDDS schools?

If we are not wrong on this one:

Italian

[edit] Noun

figa f. (plural fighe)
  1. Variant of fica
  2. (vulgar) **** (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/**** - broken link), ***** (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/***** - broken link), mostly used in Northern Italy.
figa e sesso fica e un frutto.....

But anywany, as you said, it sounds weird to all of us lerning Italian...

Have a good one....

It's been a number of years since we've been there, but there was housing units scattered around the Naples area, and Site One was still building more.
