I was with the 78th Artillery in the 4th Armored Division in Crailsheim Germany. I went to Furth for air observer training (adjusting artillery fire from the air). I think the 504th Aviation Company (L19's) was the host. Is that correct? Great training!

It would be nice to get feedback from someone in the 78th Artillery at the time, or someone who got the air observer training.

All familiar places. Lived Crailsheim as a small kid, Nurnberg/Furth as a kid, Soldier. Played a lot of golf at Monteith.....oops just noticed this was an old thread bumped that I've posted in.

Hello, I've been looking for some Soldiers staying at Monteith Bks in Fürth so long. I was a German Civilian and worked as the Fuel Handler at HHC 501 Spt Bn. (Later on it named HHC 123 Spt Bn.) from 1982 - 1992.

So many Americans were in the Nurnberg area for a lot of years - kind of weird probably having them uproot and leave a lot of buildings (PX, High School, Monteith, Pinder, Zirndorf, Pastorious,
Kalb Housing, Hospital caserne, Feucht Airfield, Dambach, and all the surrounding caserns like Erlangen, Herzo)......seems like another life ago....

Nuremberg Military Community

Lots of "Army Brats" lived, grew up overseas in Germany - I was one. I lived there all of five decades off and on as a brat and as a Soldier. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity. Today the experience is very different than back then (60s-90s).
